Live-in Care revealed to be comparable in cost to care-home fees and offers better 1-2-1 care

Many families want to keep their loved ones at home but are concerned that employing a Live-in Carer could prove too expensive.

However, the costs are comparable to care-home fees and allow for more personalised, 1-2-1 care, explains Live-in Care specialists Enhanced Living.

Care-homes are often considered the logical ‘next step’ when elderly people require additional support, but this tends to go against the wishes of many. In fact, a survey by Enhanced Living revealed that 98.5% of people would prefer to stay in their own home, but often feel that there is no other viable option.

The team at Enhanced Living is keen to educate families with older relatives on the variety of options that are available to them when it comes to organising suitable care. In fact, continuing to live independently is entirely possible with the support of a professional and experienced Live-in Carer.

Geoff Baxter, founder of Enhanced Living explains, “An average care-home is likely to cost in the region of £700-£1600 per week depending on location and level of care required. In comparison, the cost of a Live-in Carer is around £895 per week for individuals and around £945 per week for couples. When you consider the level and quality of 1-2-1 care that is provided with a Live-in Carer, it makes sense to explore this option before opting for a traditional care-home provision.”

Whilst a care-home setting can be ideal for some, for others it can lead to a deterioration in their physical and mental wellbeing. “My grandmother was in need of additional care and we initially did look at care-homes, but I found them to be expensive, soul-less and full of disinterested staff,” explains Geoff who used this experience as the inspiration for launching Enhanced Living. “We found a Live-in Care solution for her that met all of her needs and was extremely affordable. It was 100% the best decision we ever made for her. She continued to live happily and safely at home for many years and I know she’d never have been that happy in a traditional care-home setting,” explains Geoff.

David T enlisted the help of Enhanced Living to care for his mother, who lived a few hours away from her. She really needed support to be able to stay at home. I spoke frequently with a number of the team at Enhanced Living, in particular, Claire and carer Elaine, who has really supported us and enabled Mum to continue living at home. It has been a very stressful time and the support we have received has enabled me to worry less as I know Mum is receiving great support,” explains David.

live-in careLive-In Carers are extremely dedicated, professional and experienced in caring for people in their own homes. “At Enhanced Living, we have a strict vetting process which ensures that we provide the very best carers for our clients,” explains Geoff. “We even match carers based on their personal interests so that they have things in common and are able to build a genuine relationship with our clients. We assess each carer as if they were looking after our own family member,” he says.
